Grounds for Change: Activating Vacant Land

Dyed Green Tomatoes

Community Garden for designers, or anyone, to cultivate natural dyes

The National Association of Sustainable Fashion Designers (SFD), in collaboration with: the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and BLUEREDYELLOW (Natural Dye House) has developed a unique opportunity for the sustainable fashion community to enhance their green design with a green thumb! SFD has acquired two vacant lots, in the University City section of Philadelphia, to be transformed into garden plots-where designers, or anyone interested, can grow plants and vegetables to make natural dyes for fabric. Workshops will be available that cover the planting process, as well as, the dyeing process. Harvesting will begin Spring 2012! For more information, please contact: Kelli Caldwell, Project Manager
